STAFF NURSE

Specific Functions / Activities

Gives direct nursing care.Identifies nursing needs of patients.Knowledgeable about patients’ conditions such as diagnosis, treatment, procedures, and current and specific medication.Recognizes abnormalities from common laboratory and diagnostic exam results.Plans, gives, and evaluates nursing care.Assists in the admission and discharge of patients per doctor’s order.Performs nursing activities such as bathing, shampoo, tepid sponge bath, etc.Assists patients in moving, maintaining proper alignment of patient’s body and utilizing good body mechanics.Takes and records vital signs.Observes medical asepsis.Observe signs and symptoms, institute remedial actions when appropriate, and record in the chart. Reports observation to the physician. Observe and respond to the patient’s emotional and spiritual needs. Acts as liaison between patients and hospital personnel. Prepares patients for, and assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Carries out doctor’s legal orders.-
