BIOMEDICAL EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN
Job Summary:
Biomed Technician is under the supervision of the Senior Biomed Technician. Serve as an
entry-level clinical equipment support technician to provide inventory control, minor repairs, and
maintenance of medical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Technicians an at this level must perform each essential duty and responsibility
· Provide assistance to senior-level BMET in performing remedial corrective maintenance.
· Maintain documentation of all service events, performance tests, and corrective maintenance.
· Schedule and oversee third-party repair as necessary.
· Participate in or assist with the development of departmental and hospital-based continuous quality improvement initiatives.
· Maintain good personal relationships with fellow workers, nursing and medical staff, vendors, manufacturers, and the general public.
· Expected to participate in meetings, seminars, and training related to Biomed technologies as required.
· Perform rounds in assigned areas to assess how equipment is being used and to answer minor user questions.
· May assist with in-service education sessions for users.
· Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Requirement:
· Knowledge in the repair and maintenance of clinical equipment technology, such as the knowledge obtained in entry-level biomedical engineering courses.
· Knowledge of the technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation, repair, and maintenance.
· Knowledge of the application and repair of computers and servers and how they interfere with medical equipment.
· Knowledge of possible hazards which includes exposure to electrical shock, ionizing radiation, chemicals, and chemical fumes, high-pressure air, infectious disease, and various hazards associated with biomedical engineering work.
