Retail Merchandising Manager – Food & Consumables Category

Responsibilities

Develops a merchandising and purchasing strategy for food and consumables category.Develop the relevant processes needed to execute the strategic plans and programs.Ensure the right levels of product availability and mix at stores.Reviews and processes of purchase orders.Maintains records of goods ordered and received.Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers.Build and maintain relationships with vendors.Select prospective vendors and negotiate contracts.Find new sources and suppliers of product.New product development.Work with all relevant departments from retail operations, finance, supply chain management, and marketing to meet and exceed strategic and financial objectives.evaluate vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.Schedule deliveries and ensure timely fulfillment of orders.Research and evaluate vendors to compare pricing and services.Collaborate with other departments to create coordinated plans for business growth.Find cost-effective solutions for supply chain processes.Resolve issues that come up (e.g. delays in delivery, out of stock events, accidents).

Requirements and skills

Previous experience as a supply chain manager, merchandising manager, purchasing manager or in a similar field.Experience in developing food and consumables category for other retail establishments.Excellent knowledge of supply chain and purchasing processes.Strong communication skills.Negotiation Skills.Excellent organizational and management skills.Attention to detail.Creative problem-solving.A strategic and analytical mind.Degree or experience in Business Management, Purchasing, Merchandising, Supply Chain Management or related field.
